After recognizing the need, represented by five population markets, John Mark King,* President and CEO, and John Beiswenger,** Chairman, decided to move forward with the creation of the first Village through incremental steps, beginning with a prototype of the Village's modular home.
Prototype Modular Home
Working with a Modular Home Dealer, the home they are planning is for a senior couple, who is expecting guests and visiting family members of any age. The floor plan (click to enlarge) includes a master bedroom, with full bath, an open kitchen/dining room, an 11 by 20 living room, with an adjacent family room changeable to an additional bedroom using a convertable sleeper sofa bed. The home includes a large guest bedroom, with a full bath, a laundry, and a 20 by 13 one-car garage. When completed, it may look similar to the photoshopped image on the left.
Pilot Village
The prototype may even be a part of the next step planned; a Pilot Village of 16 modular homes with a business site at each corner. At the center of the Pilot Village is a full acre of land, to be used by the residents as decided by the committee they will form. The Pilot Village will have a beautiful setting on a plot measuring at least 500 by 1,000 feet (11.5 acres). The proposed Pilot Village is shown on a larger section of land on the left. Click on the image for a full view. Pease note the enclosed walkway behind the homes leading to the businesses. The plan is to have the corner businesses include: a convenience store with groceries, a drugstore/urgent care facility, and a produce store. The land around the Pilot Village will be farmed to produce fresh vegetables for the produce store. The goal is to provide residents with a largely self-sufficient community, one allowing residents to live at a lower cost, with a simpler life style, having the support of other Village members.
Full Village
Construction of the Village, seen on the front page and other sections of this website, will begin soon after the Pilot Village is fully occupied. You can get a scrolling-preview by clicking on the City of God Villages logo above. Why is it called the City of God Villages?
Because perhaps the largest population it will serve will be Godly people seeking simpler lives, making it more possible for them to serve others, as they are inclined to do.
